  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup honey
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • Additional honey
  • confectioners' sugar
  • almond extract
  • sliced almonds
  • sugar flowers
  • mini honey dippers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a bowl; set aside.
  3. In an electric mixer, beat butter until fluffy. Add sugar and honey; mix until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until combined.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract and sour cream; pour into prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. For frosting: Beat together cream cheese and butter until fluffy; add honey and extracts followed by confectioners' sugar until smooth.
  9. Cut cooled cake into cubes and layer in jars with frosting and sliced almonds as desired.
