  • 6 endives (yellow and purple tipped)
  • 6 slices deli chicken
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (freshly grated)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Wrap each endive with a slice of chicken and place them snugly in an 8” square baking dish.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour for about one minute, then slowly add milk while whisking until thickened.
  4. Pour the white sauce over the wrapped endives and top with shredded Gruyere cheese.
  5. Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Serve immediately for optimal flavor.
