  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional if the buttercream is too stiff)
  • A few drops of electric green food coloring
  • 250 g orange fondant
  • 200 g black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix self-raising flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. In another bowl, cream butter until fluffy, then add eggs one by one.
  3. Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture along with milk and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour batter into pans and bake for about 50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While cooling, prepare buttercream by mixing butter and powdered sugar until creamy; add vanilla and food coloring as desired.
  6. Once cakes are cool, cut them into layers. Layer cake pieces and green buttercream in jars, finishing with decorative toppings.
