  • 1/3 cup warm whole milk
  • 2 oz apple pie filling
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tsp water (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm milk, water, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and egg; stir until just combined.
  4. Form into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least one hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough into a rectangle.
  6. Spread apple pie filling down the center; sprinkle with cardamom.
  7. Fold dough over filling and shape into an oval or horseshoe on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 22–25 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before glazing with mixed powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and water.
