  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 crusty sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a lined baking sheet about an inch apart.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While baking, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warm.
  6. Slice open the sub rolls (not all the way) and fill with meatballs. Add marinara sauce and top with shredded mozzarella.
  7. Return assembled subs to the oven for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese. Serve warm.
