  • 450g hot Italian sausage (or ground chicken/turkey/beef)
  • 1 onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 heaping tbsp tomato paste
  • 28 oz canned tomatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 810 sheets of lasagna
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, oregano, basil)
  • 3/4 cup ricotta
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup parmesan

Instructions

  1. Dice onion and mince garlic, then set aside.
  2. In a large pot, heat oil and cook the sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onions in the same pot for a few minutes, then add garlic and red pepper flakes until fragrant.
  4. Mix in tomato paste and canned tomatoes; break apart tomatoes as they bubble.
  5. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil. Season to taste.
  6. Break lasagna sheets into smaller pieces and add them to the pot.
  7. When noodles are almost cooked, stir in heavy cream and return to simmer.
  8. Reintroduce the sausage and mix in finely minced herbs; adjust seasoning if necessary.
  9. Combine all cheeses in a bowl for topping before serving.
