Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Cinnamon for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8-inch baking pan by lining it with foil and spraying with cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and let it cool slightly. Stir in egg, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Gently fold in flour and salt until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  4. Bake for 20–24 minutes or until set. A toothpick should come out clean or with moist crumbs.
  5. Cool on a wire rack for at least 90 minutes before frosting.
  6. For the frosting, beat softened cream cheese, softened butter, confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until light and fluffy. Spread evenly over cooled bars and garnish with extra cinnamon if desired.
  7. Slice into squares and serve.
