  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup (130 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, beat together room temperature butter and light brown sugar for the brownie cookie dough until fluffy. Mix in an egg and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients into this mixture and stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. In another bowl, prepare the chocolate chip cookie dough by beating cold butter with sugars until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time followed by vanilla. Mix dry ingredients into this mixture.
  4. Use a cookie scoop to form balls of each dough type, combining one brownie dough ball with one chocolate chip dough ball.
  5. Place on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart and bake for 8-9 minutes or until edges are set.
  6. Allow cooling on the sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
